How To Crossover Like Allen Iverson

Allen Iverson Crossover

Are you here to learn how to break ankles or to learn a new move you can use to create plays for your team?

Both you say?

Peeerfect, lol.

Today I’m going to show you how to crossover like Allen Iverson used to.

All joking aside, players these days use complex 2 or 3 dribble moves to get past their defenders when in reality it’s just not needed.

You can take a look at the king of breaking ankles, Iverson, and see that he mostly just stuck with the 1 dribble crossover move.

The reason it worked so well for him was because he not only mastered the move, but he mastered the ability to use the move in a way that would get the defense off balance.

That truly is the key when it comes to a 1 on 1 situation where you need to create space.

Lets go right ahead and get into the tutorial and breakdown how to crossover like Allen Iverson.

Something that is not mentioned in the video is that once you bring the ball out and step in the same direction it's good to hesitate for a slight second.

What that does is it freezes the defender.

Due to that hesitation the defender is most likely going to react on your next movement.

So what you want to do is make one more small step in the same direction as you just did to make the defense react to that and then cross back over.

As soon as you are in the position seen in the image to the right the defense has to decide which way they think you are going and will need to adjust accordingly.

That is why it is important make the illusion that you're just hesitating and going in the same direction when really you can make a change of direction move.

Ok, great job you've gotten through all technical stuff.

Let's take a look now at the man, the myth, the legend Allen Iverson.

My guess is that you're a little too young to see him play live, but I'm not :).

He was my favorite player growing up and I had all of his shoes.

That was back in the day when a lot of people actually wore Reeboks.

Lets take a look at the time he crossed up Michael Jordan.

As you notice he uses those first dribbles as "setup" dribbles.

It's almost as if he was testing Jordan to see if he would bite.

Once he saw that he bit a little on the first cross he went for it.

Also notice that Iverson uses his left hand so if you can't crossover with your left then that is something you should work on.

Ok, that's all for this week, I hope you now have a better understanding of how to crossover like Allen Iverson and if you want to see the exact same video that I watched as a youngster that turned me into a huge A.I. fan then please share this post using one of the buttons below.

I know you'll like the video and it will give you a ton of motivation as it did for me...
