In these ball handling drills we will focus on building our strength and power in our dribbling ability, improve our overall handle of the basketball, and even incorporate some footwork.
FOOTWORK
Each dribble you take should be accompanied by a step. Do basically every time you dribble you must step. Work on keeping the ball low under your knees in every variation.
QUANTITY
You can do however many you want. If you want to only do this drill for your ball handling section of your workout that’s fine, but then you should be doing more than one of each.
NOTES
This is one of my favorite ways to get warmed up. Not only does it do a good job of warming up your upper body and legs, but it helps you get the handle and touch of the ball.
COACHES
This is a good drill to do with your teams in 4 lines. Put 3 players in each line and create a competition. The first player must go down and back then hand the ball to the next player. The first team to finish wins. Make sure that the players don’t cheat. To do this watch their dribble and footwork and make sure they coincide with the drill (1 dribble = 1 step).
