How To: Rajon Rondo Signature Fakes, Quotes, and More

Rajon Rondo is one of the most interesting players in the NBA.rajon rondo quote

He has a unique style of play and is ultra-competitive.

Maybe you have noticed in his interviews.

They’re terrible, lol.

And if he is asked about another player, lost, or is having a bad game you for sure are going to get a pretty funny response out of him.

But the reason I say he is one of the most interesting is not because of his interviews or fights he has on the court.

It’s because of his style of play.

In the day of scoring point guards a pass first point guard is hard to find.

Due to his style of play he is setup to have MONSTER statistical games.

I mean there was that time in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals where he had one of the most impressive stat lines of all time:

29 Points     18 Rebounds     13 Assists

But to me, an even more impressive game was on March 4th, 2012 when he had a stat line of:

18 Points     17 Rebounds     20 Assists

And with numbers like that you would think that Rajon Rondo is the biggest and most athletic point guard in the NBA.

Well he is a freak of nature in some ways that are perfect for basketball, but not in the traditional sense of athleticism.

Here are his numbers:

Height: 6’1″ or 185 cm

Weight: 186 lbs or 84.4 kg

But what separates him from the others is his insane wingspan and hands…

Wingspan: 6’9″

Hands: 9.5 inches long and 10 inches wide

Check out what Sport Science had to say about Rondo’s Wingspan and Hand size:

So yes, Rajon Rondo does have some physical advantages over his competition, but still this is not what makes him one of the most interesting players in the NBA.

For me it’s all about his mental edge.

He truly is the master of fakes.

No one can fake out the defense better than our guy.

There are 2 main things he does to really get the defense every time and today I’m going to be teaching you how you can use the same moves to be a better basketball player.

Now if you’re a Rajon Rondo fan then of course you have seen him use these basketball moves all the time.

But maybe you need a little convincing.

Here are a few highlights of him using these same fakes.

Rajon Rondo's Top 5 Fakes

Haha, I love it…

You were thinking, “Yeah right, does he really even use those moves?”

And then you watched the highlight clip and he did those moves 5 out of 5 times basically.

Those are two great basketball moves for point guards and highly recommend you start using them.

So one final thing before I go is to leave you with Rajon Rondo’s strengths and weaknesses and a few quotes.

Rajon Rondo Quotes

I want the ball in my hands at the end of the game. I want to make something happen.

I feel like nobody can stop me off the dribble. At crunch time, we're looking for somebody to score and I definitely want to be the guy who has the ball in his hands.

- Rajon Rondo, Boston Celtics

I knew I wanted to take the last shot. I never doubted that it would go in. When I started to penetrate, there were nine seconds left, so I knew I had to make a decision quickly. I didn't want to shoot too early and give them a chance to score on the other end.

- Rajon Rondo, Boston Celtics

They talked about teamwork. That's all it is. It's about team effort. No particular player trying to outshine each other. Playing unselfishly and believe. Good things will come.
